summer in the city
yeah, i know i know, but i was busy.. busy at work catching up not doing a whole lot in the beginning of the week. since my bosses were on vacation I took it supereasy until Thursday when all of a sudden I realized that I still had a couple things to do. so I was just busy and had no time to post. sorry guys ;o)

but now here’s what you’ve been waiting for – the update:

maren and I went to duesseldorf on Friday. we picked up tim in muenster on the way and got to ratingen (which is a suburb of duesseldorf where tim’s parents live) around 8 p.m. maren and tim stayed there and I took the car and drove to pia’s and mike’s. pia and I cought up and chatted until 2 a.m. we had a nice breakfast in the morning and went shopping later on. I found a really nice wedding-gift for almut & andré which we (maren, tim & me) gave them that night because we're not gonna be at the actual wedding. it's a beautiful hand-made photo-album. with a really pretty cotton cover and black pages. perfect for wedding-pictures!

we got to the party around 8:30 p.m. it was outside, which normally should have been fine on july 3rd but of course wasn’t this year. I don’t know if I have mentioned before how this summer really sucks and how it’s raining all the time..
anyway - it was freaking cold and just before we got there it had been raining so the grass was all wet. fortunately it didn’t rain any more after that. they had beer, soft drinks and yello-shots but there were certainly times where all we wanted was some tea & rum or “gluehwein”. I’m really not that bad when it comes to cold, but even I suffered at times. it was still a lot of fun. I would say there were between 100 and 150 people. probably not all at once cause there was coming and leaving pretty much until midnight going on – but all in all that’s about how many people there were. we left around 5:30 and stayed at almut’s parents house. oh, and guess who got the floor? yep – that would be me. all the other guys who stayed there were couples so they got to share beds and I got the slim air bed. so not only didn’t I have anyone to cuddle with but on top of that I got the crappiest bed in the whole house. unfair – that’s what I think! and of course I slept close to none. around eleven I made mike get down on the floor and went into bed with pia. and just when I was about to doze of, some stupid kids started playing basketball IN FRONT of the bedroom window. I’m not shitting you. right IN FRONT of the window. so there was just no sleep for poor, drunk, already getting to the hungover-lack-of-sleep-leave-me-alone kinda phase, kim. tough life!

well, we got up around noon, had breakfast with almut’s parents and left probably somewhere around 2 p.m. I was so tired. I tried to sleep in the car but just couldn’t. my stomach was kinda bothering me as well as my head. after maren and I had dropped off tim in muenster we went right to burger king (I know, shaunacat… ;o)). and I had a double-whopper-with-cheese-menu! it was like heaven on earth people. so much better than the slice of bread with cheese and the hard-boiled egg for breakfast. I felt A LOT better afterwards! and I really haven’t had a burger in a long time. I think since april when I visited steffi & colman and had the horror-trip home. it was SO YUMMI!! we were back in bremen around seven and I watched a little tv, cuddled with the kitty and went to bed around ten. a bed. my bed! hmmm! and I slept until almost seven!

and now here I am back at work. another weekend gone. which only means the girls-trip to denmark is coming closer as well as September when I will see my baby again!

talking of my baby – he called me this morning at 7:30 my time. he was at his grandma’s for 4th of july where they met with the family. he used to live in that town as a kid for a while and since he had had a little to drink he got all melancholic. he told me about how he once won a baseball-trophy and a few basketball-trophies there and that this was where his roots were.. how he would show that place to his kids (now quote my babe: ”if I had kids, which would probably be with you, I would show them...:” *bighugegrinonmyface*) and how he had played some baseball with his uncle earlier and realized that he “still had it” – I think he was talking about the feeling for the ball and bat or something. dude, I love that man so much, it almost hurts!
